All citizens of the EU are bound by the same legislation regarding the real estate transactions in Greece.
Citizens of EU member-states are also entitled to buy property in Greece, under the following conditions:

• Both the buyer and the seller have to provide:
  • A valid passport (or a valid Identity Card, solely for EU citizens).
  • A VAT number, issued by the Tax Offices within 5 working days.
  • Should the buyer or the seller be a legal entity (i.e. a company), all relevant documentation –articles of association, etc.– are required.
• The seller has to provide a Statement of Account, issued by the Tax Offices, certifying there are no bending debts to the State, in their name.
• All supporting certificates regarding the property, issued by the local Land Registry service.
• A special permit is required for the purchase of real estate in borderline regions.
